How does personalisation work? You upload one photo, and your child is illustrated into every page of the story — their hairstyle, their skin tone, their features, drawn in the book's own style. You see two finished pages before you pay anything. No two books are the same. What age is this book for? Our current title, Aseye and the Bridge in the Sky, is designed for children aged 0–6. We're working on more titles for older children too — watch this space. What makes a good photo? Choose a clear, well-lit photo where your child's face is visible and roughly facing the camera. A photo with just your child works best — group photos can affect the personalisation. Avoid sunglasses, hats pulled low, or heavy shadows across the face. How long will it take to receive my book? From the moment you order, your book goes through our personalisation process before being printed and dispatched. Wherever you are in the world, expect your book within 1–2 weeks. We'll keep you updated by email every step of the way. Who is the reading buddy? The reading buddy is the second character in the story — the companion who goes on the adventure with your child. At checkout you choose their name and your relationship to them (a sibling, a parent, a best friend — whoever makes the story most special). What if I'm not happy with the personalisation? You do not have to wait for the book to arrive to find out. Before you pay, we illustrate your child into two real spreads from the story and show you both, so you can see how they have been drawn. It is an illustration in the style of the book — a likeness rather than an exact portrait. If it does not look like your child, go back and swap in a clearer photo and we will draw it again, or write to hello@glibooks.com and we will look into it. Can I cancel my order? You can cancel for a full refund until we start making your book, which is when we approve your order after checking your preview. Email hello@glibooks.com with your order number as soon as you can. If your book arrives damaged or misprinted, email us within 14 days of receiving it with your order number and two or three photos, and we will print and send a replacement at no cost. You do not need to return the damaged copy. Is my child's photo safe? Yes. Your photo is used for one thing only: illustrating your child’s book. It is never shared, never sold, and never used for anything else. It is deleted automatically once your book goes to print, and within 7 days of upload at the latest. Where do you deliver, and what does delivery cost? We deliver to Ghana, the UK, the US and Canada. In Ghana the paperback is GHS 199 plus GHS 50 delivery, GHS 249 in total. Everywhere else the hardcover is £24.99 plus delivery: £4.00 to the UK (£28.99 in total), £6.00 to the US (£30.99) and £5.00 to Canada (£29.99). Orders to the US and Canada are charged in pounds sterling; your bank converts the amount. Every book arrives in 1–2 weeks from your order, printing included. We accept all major credit and debit cards for UK and international orders. For orders placed in Ghana, we also accept local payment options including mobile money.
